Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out in advance of the construction of an escape stair to the basement of a Grade II listed building. The site lay within the former precinct of Holy Trinity Priory. Roman buildings and other remains had been found nearby, and a trial pit excavated on the site had revealed human remains. During the evaluation, a single pit was excavated and disarticulated human bones were found. Post-medieval pottery and building materials were recovered. It was recommended that an archaeologist should be present during subsequent groundworks. [AIP] |
