Abstract: |
The assessment uncovered a small area of the proposed development site known to be archaeologically sterile. The site of a former building also appeared to have been destroyed during road construction. Apart from the possibility of industrial use, there was little to suggest that the site had been used for anything other than agricultural purposes. Most of the field boundaries within the area were thought to have been of post-medieval date. The most significant may have been that which formed the southern site boundary. This appeared to coincide with the southern limit of the Salterns estate in the mid 19th century, and it may have represented part of an earlier boundary. [Au(abr)] |
