Abstract: |
The route of the proposed Bedford Western Bypass between Bell Farm and the A421 was subject to an archaeological evaluation comprising historical map research, geophysical survey and field artefact collection. The maps indicated that there may have been two trackways earlier than 1800 within the study area, but were not located within the geophysical survey. Geophysics identified a number of anomalies which could be a result of past human activity including pits and ditches. The field artefact collection indicated there was relatively little material of human origin within the ploughsoil. [Au(adp)] |
