Abstract: |
A watching brief during groundworks for development at Hankridge Farm, close to the farmhouse, revealed a number of structural features which probably represented ancillary buildings relating to the existing farmhouse. Although these had been demolished recently, they may have had 16th or 17th century origins similar to the farmhouse. Features to the north-west of the farm house, consisting of ditches and gullies appeared to indicate an earlier phase of activity, possibly representing field boundaries associated with 12th century settlement evidence located during an evaluation in an adjacent area. A modern field boundary ditch was also identified. [AIP] |
