Abstract: |
An archaeological desk top study demonstrated that the extent of the medieval town lay north and west of the proposed development site. The below ground archaeological impact was thereford considered to be minimal. The building complex on the site was once part of the Brittania Iron Works site belongining to Marshall and Sons Ltd, the main employer in the town between 1875 and 1975. Given its importance to the history of the town and its position in relation to Listed Buildings to the north a comprehensive survey of the building prior to demolition was recommended. [Au] |
