Abstract: |
A series of inter-linked trenches amounting to 23.4m linear by 1.05m wide (24.57sq. m), were excavated across the site in order to fulfil a condition upon planning permission for a restaurant and flats. The evidence recorded appeared to be contemporary with the now demolished building on the site. Despite a careful examination of the site no material was recovered dating to earlier than the mid 19th century. Although the north east corner of the site was not trenched a manual inspection suggested the ground was considerably disturbed by the previous building. [Au(adp)] |
