Abstract: |
An ongoing programme of archaeological monitoring on the site had ceased. The results identified the probable northern extent of the Furze Platt implement scatter and an additional discrete cluster of Palaeolithic handaxes within an otherwise low density distribution of material. Most of the implements were in a slightly rolled condition which indicated that they had not moved far from their original point of deposition. Lithological analyses confirmed the geological deposits as the Lynch Hill Gravels which were probably deposited between Oxygen Isotope Stages 10 and 8 (350,000 - 250,000 BP). [Au] |
