Abstract: |
<summary>A programme of archaeological survey and rescue excavation was undertaken during the construction of a pipeline. Topsoil had been removed and pipe-laying commenced prior to archaeological intervention. Three main groups of features were identified: a prehistoric field system, a series of medieval lynchets or cultivation terraces, and lead-mining features. Work had already damaged the latter two, so resources were concentrated on the prehistoric field system. Topsoil removal was supervised in all areas where it had yet to be undertaken. {italon}AIP{italoff} |
