Abstract: |
Desk-based study and an earthwork survey of village remains at Harrington which lay in parkland west of the Hall were undertaken. The study showed that the village of Harrington was a modest settlement in the 14th century which was little more than a hamlet by 1563. Air photographic evidence showed that earthwork remains comprised mainly enclosed fields, some containing ridge and furrow. What little evidence remained for village closes appeared to be confined to land outside the study area. [Au] |
