Abstract: |
The site under evaluation lay immediately to the north of the chapel of St James's Hospital founded soon after St Pancras' Priory in AD1100; the existing chancel dated to AD1400. Trial trenching revealed walls and occupation layers dating to the early 12th century until the late 15th century. One wall lay to the north-west and two others lay to the north of the chancel. These were probably the remains of ancillary hospital buildings. [Au(abr)] |
