Abstract: |
Two trial trenches, each 2m by 10m, were excavated across the footprint of the proposed music and design/technology block in response to a condition upon planning permission. No significant archaeological features or artefacts were discovered during the evaluation. Parts of the site were severely disturbed by the construction of a wartime air raid shelter, whilst elsewhere a relatively intact but more or less sterile soil profile was encountered. A probable colluvial subsoil produced two undiagnostic struck flints, plus occasional fragments of post-medieval ceramic building material. [Au(adp)] |
