Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief and excavation was undertaken at the site. The watching brief identified part of a Roman field system, in an area outside the bounds of the Roman settlement. The excavation encountered 2nd century pits and post holes, as well as a small 2nd century cremation cemetery. The Roman settlement encompassed the site during the 3rd and 4th centuries. Deep enclosure pits were identified, areas of metalling and several rubbish pits. [Au(abr)] |
