Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation, consisting of the excavation of two trial trenches (9m by 3.6m and 14.2m by 4m), was undertaken across the site prior to proposed development. These revealed natural brickearth sealed by 17th/18th century agricultural soils cut into by quarry pits backfilled with cess in the 18th century. Dumped material sealed these quarry pits, cut into this were 19th century brick foundations. [Au(adp)] |
