Abstract: |
The site lay within an area of archaeological potential on the Borough's constraint maps. This potential was derived from its proximity to Deptford Creek, which was a topographic location favoured for early occupation. The development proposals included basement car parking which may have impacted on the archaeologically relevant levels. A field evaluation was recommended to provide detailed information on the archaeological potential of the site so that a scheme to mitigate the impact of development on any below ground archaeological deposits could be drawn up if it was appropriate.
