Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out and trenches one and two uncovered 18rh century deposits of clay and silt at a depth of 2m. These deposits had been disturbed by the construction of a 19th century chapel, demolished in the 1970s. 18th century deposits of clay and silt were also reached in trenches three and four. These deposits were cut by similarly aligned walls possibly associated with the ropery shown on Wood's map of 1826. The walls were covered by demolition rubble, probably dating from the removal of 19th century housing. [Au(adp)] |
