Abstract: |
Three sites being considered for development as a Business Park were assessed for their archaeological potential and signficance. The sites studied were Ellis Farm, Burton (SK 970 742), Decoy Farm, Skellingthorpe (SK 940 713) and Oak Farm, Swanpool (SK 958 703). Roman Pottery, indicating the presence of hiterhto unknown settlement, was found at Burton and Roman pottery found at Swanpool suggested the presence of a kiln or kilns additional to the 14 already recorded in the area. No finds were recovered from Skellingthorpe. The results of the appraisal indicated the need for further evaluation at two of the three sites if either were to be selected for development. [Au] |
