Abstract: |
Groundworks have shown that the remains of another barn with brick walls on the south-east side of the existing structure had replaced an earlier post-medieval brick structure. Test pits within the former farmyard revealed very little stratigraphy, and the existing evidence seems to suggest that the medieval complex did not extend into the area under observation. It was therefore possible that the 13th century dovecote once stood on the north edge of the medieval complex, and the present build was part of an 18th century farmyard extension. [Au(abr)] |
