Abstract: |
A detailed stone-by-stone record, both graphic and photographic, of the numerous areas of cobbled pavement in Little Walsingham was undertaken. This was necessitated by Norfolk County Council, North Norfolk District Council and Walsingham Parish Council participating in a Town Scheme in the centre of Little Walsingham; this may lead to a subsequent application by the District Council to convert the scheme into an English Heritage Conservation Area Partnership Scheme. Interpretation of the survey results led to the identification of some of the distinctive features of the well-preserved cobbled areas. It also allowed a subjective overall assessment of their relative survival and condition in different parts of the town to be made. [Au(adp)] |
