Abstract: |
A watching brief was undertaken during groundworks for new student accommodation. It was thought that there could have been remains associated with the nearby course of Hadrian's Wall. However, only features of a post-medieval date were identified; including the remains of a probable church and church hall. The area had been heavily disturbed in the recent past, probably as a result of documented clay extraction. No evidence of archaeological features associated with Hadrian's Wall was uncovered. It was considered unlikely that any further archaeological investigation was required. [Au(adp)] |
