Abstract: |
A preliminary archaeological assessment of the preferred route for the A43 Geddington Bypass revealed that the route passed through an area of densely distributed archaeological sites and findspots, representing human occupation and utilisation of the area from the palaeolithic to the post-medieval periods. A number of archaeological sites were identified in the proposed road corridor and rapid field reconnaissance to augment existing records suggested that extensive area of the landscape had been disturbed through quarrying.
