Abstract: |
The survey of land which might be affected by the widening of the M1 comprised a desk-based study undertaken between August and October 1992, and the results of fieldwalking and general ground reconnaissance carried out in November and December 1992. Sixty-five archaeological sites were noted from the desk-based study (19 of which were represented as cropmarks). Ten artefact scatters were recognised from fieldwalking, one comprising Iron Age pottery sherds. Topographical survey revealed one new earthwork, a linear bank in the vicinity of a proposed Roman road. [Au adap] |
