Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief carried out on four machine-excavated test-pits next to the quay wall revealed brick rubble containing post-medieval bricks and pottery, as well as a timber stake and metal tie-rods fixed into large concrete structures to prevent the collapse of the quay wall. A large timber located at the base of one of these concrete structures was interpreted as part of an earlier post-medieval quay. [Au(adp)] |
