Abstract: |
A concentration of archaeological fetaures and deposits were identified in the western half of the site, with substantial deposits left standing in the bays between the cloister buttresses. In the eastern part of the site walls and footings associated with the construction of the cloister walls were noted. Because only surface finds were discovered these features could not be dated. Quantities of glass, mainly from the 19th century and lead were identified, which reflected a relatively low-level of glazing activity associated with repairs and quarry glazing. A smaller quantity of medieval glass appeared to represent what was left after the extensive lead stripping and dumping of medieval glass in the 18th century. The original foundations and footings of the east wall of the Consistory Court were observed. [Au(adp)] |
