Abstract: |
The evaluation carried out in advance of the diversion of the A6023 Doncaster Road, identified the probable remains of a late 19th century bone mill and pottery. Large quantities of artefactual material primarily associated with the pottery were recovered, but the main structural evidence appeared to relate to the subsequent use of the site as a bone mill. The structures and deposits investigated and the artefactual material recovered were of regional significance in that they would help elucidate on the industries of the Lower Don Valley in the late 19th century.
