Abstract:
A watching brief was undertaken during works in advance of mineral extraction. Desk-top study indicated that the site had potential to contain medieval and prehistoric archaeological remains. During the watching brief four flint artefacts were recovered in an area where flint is alien, and this was thus equated with some form of prehistoric activity. The scarcity of medieval pottery suggested that the site was beyond the effects of medieval manuring and possibly only brought into cultivation during the post-medieval period. [Au(abr)]
