Abstract: |
A watching brief during groundworks for a development at Walker Street noted the presence of a number of walls and rainwater tanks, none of which were earlier than the late 18th or early 19th century. A large hollow, possibly representing a small quarry, was identified. The possibility that it was associated with the provision of stone for the Civil War defences was considered as one interpretation. [AIP] |
