Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken during the refurbishment of the building. The site lay on the northern limits of the middle Saxon settlement of Lundenwic and was defined as an Archaeological Priority Zone by the London Borough of Camden. The watching brief showed that any evidence for the Saxon settlement had been truncated, in the areas during the watching brief, by building construction in the post-medieval period. A sequence of 17th, 18th and 19th century brick wall foundations associated with this development was recorded. [Au(abr)] |
