Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was carried out during works to combat the effects of rising damp on the west wall of the church tower. The fabric of the church contained elements of Norman date and was in close proximity to the earthworks of the Norman castle situated 200 metres to the north. No evidence of Saxon or medieval phase of church construction or graves were noted. There was evidence for later works being carried out on the church, dating to the seventeenth century. [AIP] |
