Abstract:
The evaluation comprised four trenches. A natural channel containing well preserved peat deposits was the earliest feature recorded during the evaluation. Extensive medieval structural remains and pits were overlain by ploughsoil deposits and post-medieval structural remains and pits. A number of medieval and post-medieval property boundaries comprising ditches and ditch bank combinations were also recorded. Early modern structures were present in two of the evaluation trenches. Pottery, bone and assorted finds including preserved leather, dating to the medieval, post-medieval and early modern periods were recovered. [Au(abr)]
