Abstract: |
The evaluation demonstrated that the boatyard was levelled in the late-18th century. Positive and negative features survived from this date onwards, and they were felt to have the potential to demonstrate changing work practices within the dockyard over a period of about 200 years. Even evidence for what must have been fairly transitory or short-lived industrial activities survived. A 0.3 metre deep layer of recent overburden protected the archaeological deposits. [Au(abr)] |
