Abstract: |
An excavation was carried out at a site where a previous evaluation had revealed a prehistoric cooking pit and burnt flints. Two areas were excavated, and although parts of the site had been severely truncated, several prehistoric features were discovered. Carbonised wood from the cooking pit (re-opened during the second investigation) was radiocarbon dated to 2565-2140 BC. Finds included Neolithic and Late Bronze Age pottery, fragments of cow bone and struck flints. A single sherd of medieval pottery was also recovered.[AIP] |
