Abstract: |
<summary>The removal of two [?machine] bases during the restoration and conversion of the building by the Landmark Trust enabled sub-surface structures and deposits to be investigated. A large quantity of reddened and burned stone and fragments of coal were found, possibly indicating that an industrial process involving a fire or furnace had been carried out on the site. The lifting of floor slabs in the eastern room of the mid 19th century cottage revealed ducts for either ventilation or drainage. {italon}AIP{italoff} |
