Abstract: |
The evaluation comprised of three trenches within the area of the now demolished basement of the former Phoenix Cinema. The evaluation identified the presence of alluvial flood plain gravels, overlain by late post-medieval dumps. There were probably levelling layers associated with 18th or 19th century building on the site. No trace of brickearth was recorded on the site and it is likely that his deposit was removed by post-medieval quarrying or basementing. [Au(abr)] |
