Abstract: |
The watching brief was undertaken during the excavation of 10 trial pits. Recorded remains comprised a number of relatively recent features of probable 18th- or 19th-century date including the front, rear and party walls of a building. Enough of the front part of the site had been investigated to establish that no remains of earlier, medieval buildings were likely to have survived. Although no medieval buildings had survived, clear evidence for occupation during the medieval period was found in the form of two pits and the pottery that they contained. [Au(adp)] |
