Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out in advance of the proposed borrow pit as part of the Bentley By-pass. A desk-based study as well as a field evaluation, comprising trial trenching which sampled 2% of the site was carried out. Two main areas of archaeological interest were discovered, one represented an area of prehistoric occupation with the remains of post-built structures and pits containing domestic rubbish. In the other a pit was discovered containing Middle Bronze Age pottery, although no bone was found it was thought likely to reflect some funerary activity. [Au(abr)] |
