Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken during a house extension of Old Church Cottage in order to fulfil a condition upon planning permission. The development extended half way across the south-east side of a moated enclosure at its north-east end. The watching brief made it apparent that the relationship between the edge of the south-east side of the moat and the earlier extension to the cottage had been destroyed by the foundation footings. Nevertheless, the presence of the in-filled moat could be clearly seen. The domestic debris infilling the moat dated mostly to the late 19th to early 20th century. [Au(adp)] |
