Abstract: |
A desk-top assessment of a proposed development site within an Archaeological Priority Area was undertaken. Palaeolithic handaxes and a small amount of Roman material had been found in the surrounding area. Part of the site had been occupied by a medieval manor house; a watching brief in 1990 had recorded wall footings and demolition debris, which included fragments of typically medieval building materials. It was concluded that an archaeological evaluation would be necessary. [AIP] |
