Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out in advance of a proposed housing estate. Six trenches were excavated, and revealed areas of archaeological potential. An occupation horizon or buried soil that contained aretefacts dating from the Mesolithic to the Iron Age was encountered on the north-east edge of the site, as well as another feature with finds of prehistoric and Saxon date. Modern disturbances were noted on the site, however despite this a pit of possible Early Saxon or medieval date survived. A series of undated features were also recorded. [Au(abr)] |
