Abstract: |
A study of the geomorphological development of the area south of Carlton Ferry Lane was undertaken as part of an archaeological evaluation of land proposed for a quarry extension. It was found that the alluvium could be divided into two basic units and was variable in character and distribution across the site whilst a gravel island identified on the eastern edge of the study zone was devoid of alluvium. No palaeochannel features were identified within the study area, although it was thought that remnants would be located during any mineral extraction activities. [AIP] |
