Abstract: |
Two areas of medieval floor tiles within the keep at Castle Rising were recorded. One area comprised a total of 274 decorated tiles, complete and fragmentary, which had been affixed above a fireplace following their retrieval from a deserted tile kiln in the 1840s. The second area contained 137 tiles, forming a decorative floor in the centre of an upper room. The tiles within Area 2 were in poor condition, many being broken and fragmentary. [AIP] |
