Abstract: |
Evidence for early activity on the site was limited. The earliest item recovered was a single flint flake which was considered to represent a stray find. Medieval activity was attested in the form of 12th century pottery, in evidence of ploughing and in the form of a small pit and post hole. This scatter of activity clearly related to the well documented and apparently fairly large medieval settlement at Severn Stoke. The site was also known to have had 17th century buildings standing on it, and cartographic evidence indicated that this occupation continued through the mid-17th century and on to the modern day.
