Abstract: |
The desk-based study established that the area lay within a medieval suburb situated to the south of the main settlement of Bristol. Medieval occupation commenced in St Thomas Street by the end of the 13th century although it was possible that parts were settled as early as the 12th century. St Thomas Street was not intensively occupied during the medieval period, but vacant plots were almost certainly used for industrial purposes, such as metal-working. [Au(abr)] |
