Abstract: |
A field evaluation was undertaken in mitigation of a condition attached to two separate planning permissions. The proposed development included a Centre for Organic Horticulture in the northern part of the site, consisting of a single storey administration and research centre and new glass house. To the south west, a complex of buildings constituting the 'Vegetable Kingdom' was planned, consisting of a reception and exhibition building with a new shop facade and car park. The evaluation, consisting of three trenches, revealed modern topsoil overlying the remnants of a probable former ploughsoil and river terrace glacial deposits. No features of archaeological significance were encountered. [Au(adp)] |
