Abstract: |
A desk-top assessment of a proposed development site was undertaken. A neolithic axe, a bronze age axe and a Roman brooch had been found nearby, and a Roman road passed to the east. Early medieval pottery had been found in the surrounding area, and a 12th century priory had lain in the vicinity. A burial ground lay 40m to the west; it was possible that it could have extended onto the site. It was concluded that a watchng brief should be carried out. [AIP] |
