Abstract: |
Trenching for a water main in Nettleham was observed in two locations. Two large disturbances cut into the limestone bedrock were seen at Washdyke Hill, close to the projected course of the prehistoric triple linear ditch known from air photogrpahs; one may have been a ditch but the other was probably a backfilled stone quarry. To the north of the Bishop's Palace site, no evidence was found of recognisable medieval activity extending beyond the present boundary. [Au] |
