Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken during the development of a site at Amy Johnson Way, an industrial estate, formerly a World War II airfield. No archaeological work had been undertaken during the redevelopment of other parts of the site so the archaeological resource was unknown, although the sites of two Roman marching camps and evidence for Mesolithic, Neolithic, Bronze Age, Iron Age and medieval activity in the vicinity of the area had been previously recorded. Despite the archaeological potential of the site, nothing of archaeological merit was revealed, due to the heavy use of the site in the modern period. [AIP] |
