Abstract: |
A watching brief was undertaken during the excavation of the foundations of the new development in order to fulfil a condition upon planning consent. Apart from an organic rich pocket in the south-west corner of the site, which was probably due to a tree-bowl, and modern detritus, there was nothing in the way of cut features or artefacts to suggest previous occupation. A view of the late 19th century OS plan of the area shows the plot was once part of a larger field and probably, prior to that, was part of a larger communal grazing area. [Au(Adp)] |
