Abstract: |
The archaeological assessment of the site within the historic core of Nottingham was undertaken to assess the archaeological potential of the site ahead of a proposed building development. Documents were accessed concerning excavations on the site in 1851 which yielded parts of an inhumation and a sword which were dated to the early medieval period (c.900-950 AD). References were also made to the extensive man-made cave networks which ran under the city. Watching briefs were recommended during development work. [AIP] |
