Abstract: |
One trench was excavated in the area of a car park on the southwestern side of the development area. Natural sand and gravel was found overlain by a partly disturbed clay layer perhaps representing the remnants of natural soils sealing the gravels. This was sealed by a series of 19th century garden soils which contained the odd fragment of late 19th century glazed pottery. Above this was a layer of broken stock bricks which represented the demolition of a nurse's accommodation block constructed in the 1940s. [Au] |
