A watching brief was carried out during the excavation of five test pits within quarries at the north end of Carlton Bank. Waste material from an alum workings was recorded in four of the pits up to a depth of 2 metres, and possibly in situ timbers from a surface structure within the waste in one of the pits. [Au]
